Grouped by what you came here for
Staying, weddings and events, film and photography, visiting, and the house itself. If your question is not here, call 310-940-4070.
Stays
Staying
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is at 11 am. The morning after a stay is when the house is cleaned and turned over for whoever is next.
How do we book the house for a stay?
On the Stays page, press Check availability and book. The booking calendar opens on the page: choose your dates and pay securely there. The dates it shows are live.
Where do we park?
Parking is arranged with every booking. Tell us how many cars to expect when you book and we will tell you where to leave them.
Is the house quiet at night?
It is a residential boulevard in a historic district, so yes. No loud music after 10 pm. That limit is the reason the house is still welcome here.
Ask before you book, not after. None of this is fine print.
Weddings and Events
Weddings and events
Why is the night before our event blocked?
Every event and every shoot also holds the night before. A stay checks out at 11 am, so without that night a guest could be leaving on the morning of your wedding while you are setting up. With it, the house is ready for you.
How many guests can we have?
Up to 120. There are two tiers, up to 60 guests and up to 120 guests, for a single day event or for the three-night package. Ceremony in the courtyard, dinner in the ballroom.
What does an event cost?
The prices for both tiers, the single day event and the three-night package, the tax, the cleaning fees and the refundable deposits are set out on the Weddings and Events page, and the booking form shows your total as you choose.
What is the three-night package?
Three nights in the house for up to 16 overnight guests, with your event on one of the nights. The night before the package is held for setup as well.
How do payments work?
Send a booking request first. Nothing is charged and the date is not held until your booking is confirmed. If it is approved you sign the venue agreement online, then pay a 50% deposit on a secure Stripe page, which confirms your date. The balance is due 30 days before check-in.
What are the refundable deposits?
A refundable security deposit, and a camcorder deposit if you add the Sony Handycam. They are held on your card shortly before the event and released afterwards unless they are needed. They are not part of the price.
Is there a music curfew?
No loud music after 10 pm. Bands and DJs who have worked here know the limit, and your planner should raise it with them early rather than on the night.
Do we need insurance?
Yes. We need a certificate of liability insurance naming Young Mansion. Your planner or caterer will have arranged event insurance many times.
Can we use our own caterer?
The house works with one caterer, who knows the kitchen and the ballroom. The all inclusive package and the brochure are on the Catering page.

Which days can we shoot?
Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday only. Never at a weekend and never on a Monday or a Friday, because those days belong to weddings and stays. The booking calendar only offers those three days.
What does a shoot cost?
There is no fixed day rate. Send a shoot request with the date, the crew size and what you are making, and the price is agreed with you when the request is approved.
Do we need a permit?
Yes. Filming and photography at the house needs a City of Hollywood film permit, and we need a certificate of liability insurance naming Young Mansion. Both must be with us before the shoot day.
Is the evening before the shoot blocked too?
Yes. Every shoot holds the night before it, so trucks, lighting and set dressing go in the evening before rather than eating the first hours of your call sheet.
Where do crew and trucks park?
Send the vehicle list with your request and we agree the parking and the load in with you before the day.

How booking an event works
You send a booking request with your date, guest tier and comments. Nothing is charged and the date is not held yet. We review the request.
If it is approved you sign the venue agreement online. Then a secure Stripe payment page takes the deposit, and the date is confirmed the moment it is paid. The balance is due before the event, and we send you a payment link for it.
The refundable security deposit, and the camcorder deposit if you chose it, are held on your card shortly before the event and released afterwards unless they are needed.
Getting here
Visiting
Can I look round the house?
Tours are only for event enquiries or local public school field trips. A tour is 45 minutes with a guide, between 10 am and 8 pm, and there is no charge. Everyone else can walk every room in the virtual tour.
Why do you ask what my tour is for?
Because a tour is 45 minutes of the owner's time, given free. The form asks whether you are considering an event here or arranging a local public school field trip, and those are the two answers.
Could my house tour be cancelled?
Yes. Tours give way to bookings: if a stay, an event or a shoot is confirmed on the day of your tour, the tour is cancelled automatically and you are emailed straight away, so you can choose another date.
Where is the house and how do I get there?
1055 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL 33019, a mile from Hollywood Beach. Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International is the nearest airport. Call 310-940-4070 if you need directions.
Faster than reading

1925 and since
The house
How old is the house, and who built it?
It was built in 1925 as the personal residence of Joseph W. Young, who founded the City of Hollywood and developed Port Everglades. The architects were Rubush and Hunter of Indianapolis, helped by Young's friend Addison Mizner.
Is the house a protected landmark?
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on 10 August 1989 and it is on the Florida State Heritage Register. It is still privately owned, which is why you visit it by booking rather than by opening hours.
Has the house been filmed in before?
Yes. HGTV, Showtime and TLC have all filmed here, and the house has been used for music videos. In the 1920s and 1930s it held many gatherings, and two of Joseph Young's sons were married here.
